Organization Mission/Description:
The United Way of Rock River Valley is an organization focused on making a difference in our community by uniting with the volunteers, agencies and members within it to generate a positive social change. We recognize that only by working together or by Living United can we create lasting changes for our community.
Our mission is to improve life in the Rock River Valley by mobilizing the caring power of our community.
While United Way of Rock River Valley serves both Winnebago and Ogle Counties, we understand that each community is unique and has its own needs and assets.
In order to best address the needs of each community, United Way of Rock River Valley maintains a separate fundraising and fund distribution effort for Ogle County. Funds raised in Ogle County are distributed to programs and services supporting Ogle County residents. Ogle County also has its own advisory board which is represented on the United Way Board of Directors.
Board Position Description:
Duties of an Ogle County Advisory Board Member include:
• Administration of policies, procedures, campaign, and allocations for United Way of Ogle County
• Attending Board meetings and special functions
• Being informed about the organization’s mission, services, policies and programs
• Making a personal financial donation to the organization
• Informing others about the organization
• Suggesting possible nominees to the board who can make significant contributions to the work of the board and the organization
Time Required:
Minimum commitment of three years
