National Family Volunteer Day

On Saturday, November 21, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. come join the families that will be volunteering across the nation. This annual day of charitable service demonstrates the strength and compassion of families who choose to volunteer together, offering support to the community in which they live. Volunteering as a family provides quality time for busy families, strengthens bonds, and impacts communities in a positive direction. For its second year the United Way of Rock River Valley will take part in National Family Volunteer Day. Several organizations have partnered with United Way to offer local families the opportunity to give back to the community that they live in.

National Family Volunteer Day has opportunities with several agencies, performing different charitable activities around the community.  There are about 70 volunteers needed for the nine different locations. Volunteer sites include: Grace Homes, volunteers will be bringing flowers to the elderly; Mosaic needs rooms painted; RAMP volunteers will be installing carpets; and The Salvation Army families will be bell ringing at five different area locations.  All types of families are welcome to participate on Saturday; including work families, friend families, student-club families, etc.

We all have pride in our community and this is a great opportunity to make the place that we all live, work, and play in a little bit better for all.  To find out how to get involved this year call 815.968.5400 or email volunteer@unitedwayrrv.org.
